Summer Fun! Book Ice Fishing Trips

The bite this week has been pretty good. We are not catching the numbers of Walleye we were a month ago but the fishing has been good. We are finding more Yellows on every trip and we still have a some good Walleye spots kicking out some nice ones. We do offer some fishing and tubing packages during the summer  so if you want you can fish 2-3 hours and tube for an hour or two. Feel free to call anytime if you have any questions.  641-529-2359

It might be hot but it’s never to early to book an ice fishing trip or sleeper house. We have a dozen in the books already and we get one every week so if you’re after a special weekend this winter make sure to get in the books sooner then later.

Thanks and have a great summer.

This Weeks Review and Report 5-22-17

Clear Lake Review and Report

Over the last few days the weather hasn’t been ideal for Walleye fishing but we have managed to put a pattern together that has kept us on some nice fish all week. Today the weather finally broke and the bite was no different and we boated our limit in under one hour. Today the water has started to climb again and I think we are going to see some insane bites over the next couple of weeks. (Walleye and Muskie both)

Walleye Classic Review
This last weekend we fished in the 28th Annual Clear Lake Walleye Classic and with a little luck we pulled out a solid 7th place finish out of 100 boats. It wasn’t as good as our 4th place finish last year but a top 10 is always good. On Saturday of this years tournament we hooked up with a fish right out of the gate that probably went 3 or 4 pounds. It was the 1st fish of the day and it was only 8 feet away hung up on a piece of structure flopping on the surface. Now there was two things that could have happened, one the fish could have come loose so we could boat it or two the line breaks. You can guess what happened. That fish would have put us right around the top but thats fishing. It seems like every tournament many teams have a fish they loose or the big one gets away. Thats fishing!

The guiding has been fantastic this year and I appreciate all the support from you guys. We have 4 guides working trips right now and everyone is on the same page which is a good thing for our guest. We have a few different bites going as we speak and we are working on more everyday. The Crappie made a move out of the shallows and the spawn is pretty much over so we are on the hunt to find their next location.
The Walleye have been going like gang busters and that bite should only get better.
The Muskie should start heating up this week with the warmer water and the Yellows up shallow spawning.

Just a reminder on our trips we do supply everything and we can take anyone fishing regardless of age or disability. We do offer corporate outings as well and we can put together a group of very good local pros and guides that can manage a very large group. On our corporate outings the sky is the limit.

Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or would like to book a trip.

Thanks Kevan

The bite has been pretty good in the Clear Lake area!

Here is a some pictures from the last few days on Clear Lake. The fishing has been pretty good considering the cold front. We have some availability for both 3 man sleeper house and regular guide trips.  If you have any questions please shoot me a email. Thank You

The bite has been great this fall!

It looks like we are going to finish the year strong. We have been on a great Perch and Walleye bite. Best baits have been 1/8 th oz jig with a worm or minnow.  We have also been casting Rip in raps. Dragging small creek chubs in the little lake has been good for finding big fish.  Please swing by our new bait shop Clear Lake Bait and Tackle next time your in town. Nov. 18 – 20th will be our Grand Opening and Ice Season Kickoff we will have some great seminars planned along with piles of door prizes.

We have started to book winter trips! If you’re looking for a great time on the ice give me a call we will get you all set up.

Muskies are on the chew and its time for us to go after them!

This year we have been targeting everything from Perch to Walleyes so it will be nice to change things up and start chasing fish with an attitude. The Clear Lake Muskie population is awesome and the DNR do a great job stocking fish on a regular basis. This lake will almost always give you a shot for a fish of a life time. Pictured is a good client Dennis Clark with a 49″ Clear Lake fish. It was CPR’d and named Lucy.IMG_0080

The Melt down!

This week has been warm and I have been receiving multiple call in regards to the ice. The ice is fishable and will be ok for a while yet. The biggest thing is the shoreline so please keep a eye on the access points. Trucks were ok today but might not be tomorrow so please use caution.

This time of the year can be one of the best times to land that trophy that you have been looking for. Late ice locations are similar to first ice locations. You will want to look at shallow points and some areas that have moving water. Remember use caution the ice is melting so please make sure you have your safety tools along. (life jacket, spud bar, ice spikes and a rope.

The sleeper will be coming off the ice soon and we will start working on the boat. We have started to book open water spring trips and those will fill up fast. Our spring bite will be killer this year. We are going to have a killer walleye bite and also a fantastic Crappie bite.

This year we are looking forward to the Musky bite. Please feel free to call for details on those trips.

I would like to say thank you to everyone for all the support is this ice season you guys were great.

Thank You!!

2 thumbs up brad

Good Ice Good Bite!

This year the sleeper shack has been doing its job by producing some nice fish. Its not lights out but its good enough to where you can chase fish during the day and pop some nice ones in the shack at night.  The guide service is in neutral at this time because of the big tournament this weekend. This weekend is the 4th annual Yellow Bass Bonanza and we have 510 anglers competing for over $30k in prizes. Monday the 15th we will be in full swing again and we do have some availability before the end of the month. Please call for dates if you have interest in fishing with us before ice out. I would also like to mention spring Walleyes. The 2016 Spring Walleye bite will be one of the best in years. The fishing over the last two open water seasons has been great and this year should be nothing less. If your looking for Walleyes and Crappies book with us in April May or June. If you want Yellow Bass / Walleye Mix June and July.  If you want to Musky fish book May – Oct. Please visit my rates page for all the pricing. Feel free to call anytime.

kevan paul guideIts been a good week for reservations. Its funny, I go a week without any then boom 5 or 6 come in two days. I sold 3 gift certificates and 2 reg. bookings yesterday and today. I’ve been also taking reservations for the sleeper house. Its a 8×20 Ice Castle with knotty pine interior, satellite tv, stove, oven, sofa, dinning table and 4 beds. The sleeper runs 200 a week night or 250 a night on weekends and weekends have a two night minimum.

Yesterday Clear Lake was iced over and after all the rain today it opened back up. This early ice bite should be lights out. Most of the fish haven’t been touched in two months and they should be ready to chow down. We are also looking forward to the hot bite at Okoboji this year.
We have holiday gift certificates available by email. These trips go over very well, there is nothing better to give than something that creates awesome memories.
Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. Thank You  Happy Holidays!

The guided ice fishing calls have been coming in and things are shaping up well. If your looking for a guided trip this winter give us a call. We have 2 guides at Clear Lake and also an extra guide at Okoboji. New this year is the 20ft Sleeper Shack please go to RATES to find out pricing and details on that. I want to wish everyone a great season.  God Bless!
